Value of volumetric and textural analysis in predicting the treatment response in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer

ConclusionsAlthough there were points where textural features were found to be significant, multivariate analysis revealed no diagnostic superiority over MTV in predicting treatment response.  In this study, it was thought higher MTV value and metastatic lymph nodes in PET/CT images could be a predictor of low treatment response in patients with LARC. The contribution of metabolic parameters of FDG PET/CT prior and during therapy of adult patients with lymphomas

AbstractLymphomas are the most common hematological malignancies and are further distinguished in Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) and non-Hodgkin (NHL). For staging purposes and for assessing response to treatment, the Lugano classification is currently used, both for HL and NHL patients, whereas for the assessment of prognosis, several prognostic systems exist, such as the international prognostic index (IPI) and revised-IPI for diffuse large B cell lymphomas, follicular lymphoma IPI (FLIPI)-1 and 2 for follicular lymphomas, and the international prognostic score for advanced HL. The aim of this systematic review was to determine the significance of the metabolic FDG PET/CT parameters, such as metabolic tumor volume (MTV) and total lesion glycolysis (TLG), in monitoring therapeutic interventions an...

Causes of false negatives in technetium-99  m methoxyisobutylisonitrile scintigraphy for hyperparathyroidism: influence of size and cysts in parathyroid lesions

ConclusionThe presence of cyst in parathyroid proliferative lesions as well as small size and multiple number of parathyroid lesions contribute to false negative in parathyroid MIBI scan. (Source: Annals of Nuclear Medicine)

Deceased vs. living donor kidney transplantation in prediction of acute renal allograft rejection using Tc-99m DTPA renal scan

ConclusionsAR could be effectively predicted by Tc-99m DTPA renal scan obtained at 1  week post-KT. Different parameters should be applied according to the donor type in the prediction of AR. (Source: Annals of Nuclear Medicine)

Recent advances in cardiac positron emission tomography for quantitative perfusion analyses and molecular imaging

AbstractPositron emission tomography (PET) has been used to noninvasively evaluate myocardial perfusion and metabolism. For clinical assessments of myocardial perfusion, the quantitative capability of PET permits precise assessments of ischemia and microcirculatory dysfunction, playing an important role in patient management and outcome analyses.18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) PET has recently been used to identify active cardiovascular lesions such as cardiac sarcoidosis, endocarditis, and aortitis. This may hold promise for the early and accurate diagnosis of such fatal diseases, as well as for patient management. This review covers new and clinical roles of cardiac PET in treatment strategies and patient outcomes. (Source: Annals of Nuclear Medicine)

Assessment of SPECT-CT fusion images and semi-quantitative evaluation using SUV in 123 I-IMP SPECT in patients with choroidal melanoma

ConclusionsThe semi-quantitative evaluation by SUV of123I-IMP SPECT images fused with CT images is useful for detecting choroidal melanoma. Moreover, 6-h imaging with SUV-based evaluation of123I-IMP SPECT is promising compared to the conventional count-based UI evaluation method.Trial registration This study is registered in UMIN Clinical Trials Registry (UMIN-CTR) as UMIN study ID: UMIN000038174.
