California Bill on EMR is signed into Law

Back in June we reported that the California Senate was working on a bill that required among other items that the EMR Automatically record and preserve any change or deletion of any electronically stored medical information.
This means that any changes to the EMR must have an audit trail that allows viewing of the original item prior to the changes. When changes are recorded in the EMR the identity of the person who accessed and changed the medical information, the date and time the medical information was accessed, and the change that was made to the medical information will be recorded.

This bill was signed into law On October 17.
