Always Exceed the Standard of Care: Employing Advanced Compression with Jeffrey Lehrman DPM

"Standard of care" is the degree of care and skill that the average qualified provider would offer to a patient in a similar clinical situation, using accepted medical practices. Providers are often held to the standard of care, most notably in medical-legal situations. Considering the frequency of poor outcomes associated with venous leg ulcers and lymphedema, it is especially important to consider the standard of care when managing these pathologies. Compression is often an important element in meeting the standard of care when managing venous leg ulcers and lymphedema, and it cannot be just any compression. Typically, adequate, graduated, and consistent compression that is tolerable is required. In this webinar, the pathology of venous leg ulcers and lymphedema will be discussed as well as their treatment options, with a special focus on meeting the standard of care with appropriate compression.
