Incorporating the Evaluation and Management of Common Venous Disorders into the Primary Care Podiatry Practice

This program is meant to familiarize the attendee with the incidence, prevalence, and classification of venous disorders commonly encountered in the podiatry practice. During the seminar, there will be a review of the anatomy and physiology of common venous and lymphatic disorders including: venous stasis dermatitis, lymphedema, phlebolymphedema, chronic venous insufficiency, venous ulceration, and lower extremity edema. Additionally, there will be a review of the current status of DVT prophylaxis and surgery; including indication for and use of physical and medical therapies.

About the Speakers

Allen Mark Jacobs, DPM, FACFAS| Dr. Jacobs is in private practice in St. Louis, Missouri. He is board certified in reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. For 25 years, Dr. Jacobs served as a Director of Podiatric Surgical Residency Training; and has also served as a contributing editor to the Journal of Foot Surgery, Podiatry Today, Foot and Ankle Quarterly, and Clinics in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Jacobs is widely published and a national speaker on podiatric medicine and surgery.
 

John Holtzman, DPM, FACFAS| Dr. Holtzman completed a surgical residency in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery through Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He has been in private practice since 1999 He has remained active in the local residency program, training the residents for their future in Podiatry. Being devoted to the practice of Podiatry, Dr. Holtzman became a Board Certified Podiatrist who is an active member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, American Podiatric Medical Association, and the Missouri Podiatric Medical Association.
 

Heather Barnhart, PT, PhD, AWCC, CWS, CLT-LANA, CLWT| Dr. Barnart is the Director of Clinical Affairs for Koya Medical. Previously, she was a Professor in the Physical Therapy Program at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. As a physical therapist, her expertise in integumentary dysfunction, and she holds four board certifications/credentials. Dr. Barnart is currently on the board of the World Alliance of Wound and Lymphedema Care, the advisory board for the Why Wound Care Campaign, and the Editorial Board for Today’s Wound Clinic. She is also Faculty and Director of Wound Education for the International Lymphedema and Wound Training Institute.
