Beyond the Standard of Care: Utilizing Advanced Compression for Complex Edema with Jonathan Moore, DPM

Chronic comorbidities such as diabetes, obesity, congestive heart failure, and renal insufficiency present unique challenges in the effective management of lower extremity lymphedema and multifactorial edema. Though compression therapy remains the cornerstone of treatment for venous disease and lymphedema, patients with chronic illness often struggle with garment application due to mobility, dexterity, or volume-related limitations. This session introduces practical, patient-centered solutions, emphasizing the clinical advantages of EXTREMIT-EASE, a reimbursable, easy-to-don compression option that enhances compliance without compromising therapeutic benefit. Providers will learn how to accurately diagnose complex edema patterns, select appropriate compression modalities, and implement streamlined dispensing workflows through Amerx Patient Direct, ensuring both clinical efficacy and sustainable reimbursement.

Learning Objectives
  • Identifying and managing lymphedema in medically complex patients (diabetes, obesity, CHF, CKD)

  • The clinical burden of multifactorial lower extremity edema and how to address it

  • Differentiating lymphedema from venous insufficiency and fluid overload

  • Implementing EXTREMIT-EASE in patients who are unable to tolerate traditional compression options

  • Tailoring treatment plans using reimbursable compression through the Lymphedema Treatment Act

  • Proper measuring, documentation, and dispensing workflows for compliant implementation

  • Leveraging Amerx Patient Direct to reduce provider burden and enhance financial outcomes
