The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced its second semi-annual meeting of the Advisory Panel on Ambulatory Payment Classification (APC) Groups for 2011. The purpose of the panel is to review the APC groups and their associated weights and to advise the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and the Administrator of CMS concerning the clinical integrity of the APC groups and their associated weights. The proposed agenda topics include reconfiguring APCs, evaluating APC weights, packaging device and drug costs into APC methodology, and using single and multiple procedure claims data.
