Dr. Hyer is a double-board certified, two-year fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeon and former partner at the Orthopedic Foot & Ankle Center (OFAC), a multi-specialty foot and ankle practice in Columbus, Ohio where he practiced for over 20 years. Dr. Hyer is past director of the Advanced Foot and Ankle Reconstruction Fellowship at OFAC and has trained over 60 MD/DO Orthopedic and DPM physicians. He is also the past residency director at Grant Medical Center and has served as Board President for 7 years at Polaris Surgery Center. Dr. Hyer recently re-located to Bozeman Montana and is the foot and ankle specialist for Ortho Montana Bozeman. Dr. Hyer is very active in research and has authored over 175 peer reviewed scholarly publications as well as multiple textbook chapters and co-editor of the 1st and 2nd editions of Primary and Revision Total Ankle Arthroplasty textbook and primary editor of Essential Foot and Anklle Surgical Techniques. Dr. Hyer has expertise in all areas of foot and ankle surgery with special interest in cartilage replacement techniques, reconstructive and deformity correction surgery, sports and trauma injury repair and is a national leader of total ankle replacement (TAR) surgery. He has also been actively involved in product development and invention and holds several patents on numerous orthopedic implants and devices.
